Getting Smacked in the Face Can Be a GOOD Thing
If it’s anything like me there is probably a whiney deer running around wondering why the bad stuff always happens to it.
Last Saturday a hunting buddy of mine received the privilege of sitting in MY best tree stand. After about eight and half hours of seeing nothing a nice doe came into sight. That’s when things probably turned south from the deer’s perspective.
As it moved into a beautiful shooting position for Yancy some alarming noises began to come from Jean’s porch. This startled the deer each time and gave it what it considered to be extremely unnecessary stress for a hungry deer. Each time the noise came the deer stopped and wasted its precious time getting to its meal.
Finally, from the deer’s perspective, it was almost there and ready to chow down.
From Yancy’s perspective it was about to be shot.
When it was about two steps from both it and Yancy’s dream spot the feeder went off, made lots of noise and threw over a pound of corn in its face.
In fear and probable disappointment and disgust it ran off into the woods, (maybe even cursing under its breath).
That irritating noise, interrupted meal and corn shot into its face may have ruined that deer’s day, but it saved its life and will keep Yancy in the woods just a while longer.
Let’s all try to remember this when life doesn’t go our way, because maybe it IS going our way and we just don’t see it.
All things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose… Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. 6In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. - Romans 8:28 & Proverbs 3:5-6
