Keith's Korner for November
The following is attributed to Andy Rooney. Please consider this as we approach Thanksgiving.
I am thankful…
For the teenager who is not doing dishes, but is watching TV, for that means he is at home and not on the streets…
For the clothes that fit a little too snug, because that means I have enough to eat…
For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing, because that means I have a home…
For all the complaining I hear about the government, because that means we have freedom of speech…
For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot, because it means I am capable of walking and that I have been blessed with transportation…
For my HUGE heating bill, because it means I am warm…
For the lady behind me in church that sings off key, because it means that I can hear…
For the pile of laundry and ironing, because it means I have clothes to wear…
For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I have been capable of working hard…
For taxes, because it means I have a job…
And finally…
For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours, because it means that I am alive!
Yes, we all have more to be thankful for than we realize and, as much as we have, there’s more:
As those who have chosen to receive Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior we can be thankful that even though everyone of the many recognized and unrecognized blessings entrusted to us will one day fade away, in Christ we can be free to enjoy and share them more fully than we ever could without Christ. We can be thankful that our lives are eternal and will outlast and outlive any blessing or trial that comes our way and that God Himself is overseeing it all using it to mold us and make us ready for eternity. We can be thankful that God has promised to work ALL things together for good as we love and follow Him. We can be thankful for fresh starts, cleansing, renewal, guidance and eternal friendship with One Who will never leave or forsake us. In other words, we can be thankful that we have it made forever in Christ.
Happy Thanksgiving!
